I’ve been having difficulty breathing for the last two weeks and I’m at my wits end. My problem?
Ragweed is the primary cause of hay fever in the US and it negatively impacts between 10-30% of all Americans.According to WebMD, a single plant can release one billion grains of pollen. What can we do about it?
My first encounter with ragweed was on a stretch of bike path now dubbed “the ragweed cathedrals.” Towering weeds close to ten feet tall. I’ve been staying about a mile away from that part of the bike path but I still can’t breath. WebMD says, ragweed pollen has been found 400 miles out to sea and up to two miles in the atmosphere. We are under siege.
The ragweed season runs from early August until mid October. So, it looks like three more weeks of pain and misery before relief comes. I’m taking Zyrtec every morning and blowing my nose like a boss. The coughing is annoying but at least I get a free elevation training mask. Just hang tough peeps, this too shall pass.
