I woke up in Himeji, Japan this morning and did my last shake out run before the Mt Fujisan Marathon this Sunday. My hotel is exactly 1/2 a mile from Himeji Castle and I found an amazing 1 mile loop around the “moat” surrounding the grounds.
This run rivaled my most favorite run of all time (Djurgården – Stockholm, Sweden) and would easily be my number 1 if the cherry blossoms were in bloom.
Himeji Castle is a huge complex surrounded by parks and gardens that really are truly mesmerizing. It’s dangerous how beautiful Himeji Castle is. You could waste days of your life staring at the white keep and listening to the water gently flowing over the waterfalls and streams at the complex. Photos can only capture a fraction of the beauty.
