Following the London Marathon coverage on the heels of Boston was a real treat. Many fans will remember London 2015 as Paula Radcliffe’s last marathon. Paula is best known for setting the women’s marathon world record in 2003 with a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 25 seconds. She was 41 years old today and finished just under 2h 37mins. There are thousands of things that made the London Marathon special but one thing in particular caught my eye. In the final stretch, Paula grabbed the hand of a runner she befriended on the course. To finish the London Marathon hand in hand with Paula Radcliffe would truly be an unforgettable experience.
On May 3rd, 2015 I’ll be crossing the finish line of my first marathon. I’m running my next marathon in Tromsø, Norway on June 20th, 2015 and have already registered for the Marine Corps Marathon (Washington DC) on October 25th, 2015. My marathon schedule is pretty packed right now but I’m still setting goals and dreaming of future destinations. Learning about the triumphs of other runners helps to drive my training and keeps me motivated in all other aspects of my life. History was made in London in 2003. It’s been a while since I visited England so I’m confident the London Marathon will be added to the bucket list once I finish this post. Cya at the finish line!
