Finding a New Running Partner

Finding a new a new person to run with can be intimidating if you are new to running or find yourself in a new city. It’s important though! Good running partners make running safer and more enjoyable. Here are some ways to get started.

1. Join a gym

Lots of gyms also have running groups. If you join a national gym chain, you can usually stop in any location and ask about running groups.

2. Drop by your local running store

This may come as a surprise, but running stores specialize in our hobby! If a running store can’t connect you with someone to run with, you should consider spending your dollars elsewhere.

3. Road Runners Club of America (RRCA)

There are RRCA member clubs all over America.

4. Join JoggingBuddy.com

OK, enough of the 20th-century techniques. Talking to strangers can be awkward, so let’s stalk them first! JoggingBuddy.com is a free website to help runners find each other. There are thousands of members to choose from, so there’s bound to be somebody you can tolerate.

5. Check out Meetup.com

Meetup.com is a great tool for meeting new people. Local clubs or enthusiastic hobbyists start “groups” that are open to the public and encourage first-timers.
